WHO! WHO! WHO LET THE BLUES OUT ? !!!

B Trp was getting all the attention. WE EARNED IT. When I was promoted to First Sergeant, shortly after my return from Vietnam, the company that I was given was commanded by a Captain that served with the 25th Division. My group reconned for them, especially his platoon. When he asked me what unit I served with in the Cav and I told him "the BRAVO BLUES", he said "You were one of those crazy guys, who always wanted to out and find something to get into." My reply: "YES SIR, I WAS THE PLATOON SERGEANT". He replied, "Then I am proud to have you as my First Sergeant I'm sure you will be a hell of a good one."
If you read this, Captain, we would appreciate contact from you! The purpose of this website is to connect.

There are still some guys out there that served under my command, that I would love to see or hear from. IF THERE ARE ANY BRAVO BLUES IN THE RICHMOND, VA, AREA, DROP ME A LINE. I'm hoping that, maybe, someone knows WILLIE BEVERLY COUCH from Memphis, TN, that I have been trying to find for 30 years. He would be about 51 now, and maybe a cop. SOME OF YOU BLUES DROP ME A CHAT. YOU KNOW IT ISN'T EASY TO FORGET A SHORT LITTLE, BLACK DUDE, IN CHARGE OF 23 MEN, AS CRAZY AS HE WAS, AND WITH BROWN HAIR YET, THAT TURNED GOLD WITH THE SUN. WE CAN, WE WILL, WE DID.............WILLIE AND I FOLLOWED THE SUN.

WITH GOD'S BLESSING, I'm sure that someday, we will find the rest of the BRAVO BLUES. B Trp 1/9 Cav, to me, was the best tour of my 20-year career, and being a BLUE leader was the best assignment I could ask for.

WE CAN, WE WILL, WE DID: KICK SOME BUTT.

Always a B Trooper,
Dr. Richard T. Wilkerson Sr, Phd. A.C.S.W.

Here are some names that served with me in 67:

Bain -
We always called him "Bang Bang", because he was so good. The Commanding General gave him his third Silver Star and a Meritorious Promotion to E6 for capturing an enemy patrol on a break, and nonchalantly, he escorted them back to me while he was on point. The CG also ordered him out of the field.

Black, Wilfred E. - Austin, TX

Borsos, James A. - Orange, CA

Couch, Willie Beverly - Memphis, TN

Hulsey Jr., James C. - Edmond, OK

Hutt, Brance - Detroit, MI

Pack, Bobby - Chicago, IL

"Pancho" - I remember he could always laugh at himself. It takes a special kind of person to do that.

Tunewald, John - Albany, GA

Williams, James - SC

The Blues all signed a Thanksgiving menu for me in 1967, to bring home with me.

THERE IS ONE THOUGH, THAT I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER, I CALLED HIM "MY BLUE-EYED SOUL BROTHER". We had a mutual bond of camaraderie. I was devistated when I found out from the VA locator that he had died of cancer shortly after retiring......DAVID W. MAY......my Artillery NCO, from Columbis, Ohio.......His photo will always grace the wall of my home.
