Snoul, Cambodia in May 1970

Snoul was for all intents and purposes leveled by 11th Armored Cav. There was a NVA unit in the town with anti-aircraft weapons, making flying anywhere close to it very hazardous. Even the fighter jets were having great difficulty. There was a big international incident over this battle, as there were many civilians killed within the town. President Nixon ordered a stand down until there was an investigation.

Behind this pretty hootch maid was D.J. Pelkey's place of residence on the flight line. In Jan 1970 the troop moved their living quarters from the old wooded area down to the Saber flight line (this was closer for responding to emergency missions and safer during mortar and rocket attacks since there were few trees to spread around the schrapnel). This same hootch also belonged to Jack Honeycutt (D.J.'s roomate), Len Demaray, and about 4-6 others.
